VILLAGERS are being urged to be extra vigilant after two homes were burgled on the same night.

Raiders left both properties in a mess after the raids in Silkstone Common.

At Monday’s meeting of Silkstone parish council, Coun Ron Stier said the break-ins had taken place in the previous 12 to 24 hours.

“One lady was sitting outside in the middle of the night crying her eyes out,” he said.

They had wrecked her house, even been up to the loft.

“The second home was also badly damaged. People need to be wary.”
