When teacher Donna Barker married marketing man Ben Low it was like an explosion in a sweet factory - literally.

The couple went the whole hog for their special day on Saturday, with a Willy Wonka-themed reception at the Fairway, Dodworth.

Donna, 25, and Ben, 26, of Tennyson Close, Penistone, sent guests 'Wonka' chocolate bars with golden tickets inside, which they imported from America, to act as invites.

On arrival, guests walked through giant 'Wonka' purple and golden gates and each table had its own sweet-theme and name, such as 'Marshmallow' and 'Flying Saucers'.

Inside, the reception room was decorated with giant candy canes and lollipops, there was a psychedelic wonky wedding cake, and even a pick and mix sweet table for guests to enjoy.

Confetti was replaced by sweets, the bride's bouquet was made from flowers and lollipops - and there was even an Oompa Loompa to keep people entertained.

Although the happy couple dressed traditionally, they kept the wacky theme with deep purple coloured hats and shoes (the colour of Cadbury's chocolate wrappers), and the groom had a cane filled with sweets.

Ben said it took six months to plan, cost about £15,000, but was worth every penny. "Everyone loved the Oompa Loompa we hired, who played a goblin in the Harry Potter films, and he helped me with my speech, which people found quite funny" he said.

"Even staff at the Fairway who weren't working that day came in because they wanted to see the reception. It all went to plan and everyone seemed to have a good time and a laugh."

However, the surprises for guests didn't end there - the couple's carefully choreographed wedding dance was the icing on the cake for most.

They busted out moves to a mash-up of different songs by artists such as Shakira, Shaggy, Ricky Martin and PSY's Gangnam style, before the bridesmaids joined the couple for the finale of the dance routine.

Ben added: "People were expecting something wacky and that's what we did. It was amazing."
