ANOTHER animal cruelty warning has been issued after one cat was shot and three others were fatally poisoned in Royston.

It is the third incident to have hit the village in as many months after a dog was dumped at Rabbit Ings and another was left along the village’s stretch of canal - both of which had to be put down.

The cats’ owner, Scott Lavender, of Victoria Road, contacted the Chronicle to issue a warning to fellow pet owners.

“Three of our family’s cats - Twinkles, Suki and Frankie - were poisoned. They were all taken to the vets but their organs failed. These happened a few months ago but last week another one of our cats, Tigger, was shot.

“I noticed him come inside quite quickly and he couldn’t jump up to where he wanted to go - it was then that I noticed blood on his leg.

“We rushed him to the vets and they operated on him to remove two pellets. He’s at home recovering but we’re terrified this will happen again as it isn’t an isolated incident.

“It’s very upsetting as we have four children, too. We are scared to let our pets and even the kids into the garden now.”
