SOUTH Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in the Wilthorpe area of Barnsley in the early hours of Sunday.
It is reported that at around 1.30am a white Audi A5 was travelling along the A635 Huddersfield Road towards the town centre, when it struck the kerb and collided with a tree - no other vehicles are thought to have been involved.
A 24-year-old man who was driving, and a 22-year-old woman who was a passenger - both from Barnsley - were pronounced dead at the scene.
