A FURIOUS mum who got trapped in a library lift with three young children for almost an hour claims staff were reluctant to call the fire brigade for help.

Kirsty Jessop, 26, was on her way to an appointment at the Citizen’s Advice Bureau which shares a floor with the Central Library on the upper level of Wellington House.

As she had her three young children with her, Kirsty and her partner Damien Pell decided to use the building’s lift.

They pressed to go the next floor up but instead the lift went down to the basement.

Kirsty, of Longsight Road, Mapplewell, said when the doors opened it hadn’t quite gone to the bottom and was a few inches from the floor.

Damien managed to get out but the doors shut behind him. Kirsty pressed the button to go up to the level she needed but the lift wouldn’t move and the doors wouldn’t open.

“I pressed the alarm button inside the lift and someone came down and asked if we were stuck and that they would go get help,” Kirsty said.
