In a rapidly growing and fast-paced industry, XPO Logistics is proud to name ASOS, House of Fraser, ASDA and Ardagh Glass as some of its key customers. In the UK supply chain business they are the leading UK employer with the biggest concentration in South Yorkshire, employing several thousand colleagues in the area across four different sites.
XPO/ASOS Barnsley is one of the four XPO facilities in South Yorkshire, and the operation in Grimethorpe is the company’s single largest XPO single site globally in terms of number of colleagues.
XPO Logistics is hugely invested in its people. At the XPO/ASOS operation alone, more than 150 employees have already successfully completed the Red Management programme, which identifies and trains individuals in management skills that they can then apply within the XPO organisation.
Employment in the area has been helped by the consistent job opportunities at XPO/ASOS. The recruitment of weekend part-time students and part-time roles particularly suited to working mums is a regular activity of the recruitment team on-site.
XPO Logistics also has more than 40 apprentices on site, and this is the third year of working with Barnsley College to develop local talent.
It is this local touch which Ken Perritt, account director for XPO Logistics, believes makes an enduring difference in the community and surrounding area.
