POLICE have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with an armed robbery of a convenience store in Barnsley.

It is reported that at around 9.30pm yesterday (Monday July 20), a man entered the store on Keresforth Hill Road, Kingstone, and stabbed a member of staff.

The man stole a number of bottles of spirits before leaving the store and heading towards Raley Street.

The victim was a 49-year-old man and he suffered minor injuries to his abdomen that did not require hospital treatment.

Enquiries are currently ongoing but officers are wanting to identify the man in the images as they ma be able to assist with any enquiries.

Detective Inspector Tom Woodward said: “I’d like to offer my reassurance to the local community at this time.

“Our investigation is continuing at pace and we are exploring a number of lines of enquiry to locate the offender.

“We’d like to encourage the public to come forward if they have any information which might help us in our enquiries.

“Were you in the area at the time? Do you recognise the man in the CCTV image or his clothing?”
