WORK is well underway on Hoyland's new community garden - and the people behind it are seeking volunteers to help create it.
Alison Richardson and Charlotte Houghton are working with Belmont Working Men's Club on West Street to transform wasteland at the back of the club into the flower and vegetable garden.
The garden will be called 'Owd Martha's Yard' after Martha Knowles, who donated a clock and tower to Hoyland in the 1890s.
This week, Hoyland's Tidy Team was hard at work clearing the plot of grass, weeds and brambles.
