THE LUCORUM has won the first Best Bar None title at the awards ceremony held last week.

Nineteen pubs and clubs entered the competition which aims to recognise improving standards in the town centre licensing trade.

Seventeen out of the 19 premises reached the required standard to win.

The list was whittled down to six finalists who went head-to-head on the night including the Assembly, Chicago Rock, Durty O’Dwyers, Joseph Brammer, the Lucorum and Walkabout.

The Lucorum took the top prize with Irish bar Durty O’Dwyers picking up the Barnsley Chronicle readers' award and Australian bar Walkabout scooping the Dearne FM listeners' award.
