A COUPLE who were injured in the Smiler crash at Alton Towers will run this year’s Rainbow Dash to raise money for Barnsley Hospital.
Leah Washington, 18, and Joe Pugh, 19, suffered life-changing injuries when the car they were in crashed into another stationary car on the ride in June.
Leah had her left leg amputated after the crash and has had to learn to walk again using a prosthetic leg. Joe also had to learn to walk again after his knees were shattered.
But they are determined not to let the accident hold them back and will take part in the 5k event in which participants get covered in coloured powder paint.
The pair will be joined by their mums, Louise Washington and Julie Pugh.
