ARTIST Ashley Jackson has done his bit to brighten up a rundown railway station.
Ashley, 76, of was approached by rail operator Grand Central as part of the overhaul of Kirkgate station in Wakefield.
Ashley Jackson, who spent his formative years in Barnsley, used to live in Longman Road, off Old Mill Lane, and went to Holy Rood School before he studied at Barnsley Art College.
Paintings from the watercolour expert, who is now based in Holmfirth, now adorn the walls of Kirkgate’s underpass which is used by thousands of commuters every week.
