TWO Barnsley mums have organised a show of love in response to what they say are the negative feelings of hatred that have arisen in the town since the EU referendum.

Kate Raynor and Steph Cronin teamed up after sharing their concerns about growing friction and abuse on social media following the referendum result.

Kate, 32, said it quickly became obvious that some people were scared to reveal their political views or were even frightened to walk the streets for fear of abuse.

So Kate, from Highfield Cottages, Silkstone, and Steph, 39, from Park Street, Barnsley, inspired by their children Sophie, nine, and five year-old Amber, determined to try to bring the town back together.

They have created the Love and Unity project.
