HOYLAND biker Kenny Sharman was given the funeral send-off he would have wanted - an escort of 20 motorcyclists.

Kenny, 58, was accompanied by the bikers on his final journey from his home in Edward Street, Hoyland, to Ardsley crematorium.

He suffered from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) last month after being taken ill with a flare up of the condition. He had worked at Paragon Carpet Tiles in Wath.

Born in West Street, Hoyland, Kenny went to Kirk Balk and developed a lifelong love of bikes, attending many rallies with his friend of almost 20 years, John Lee.

It was John and fellow bikers who organised the funeral escort.

John said: "It was what he would have wanted as he was a biker through and through. I worked with Kenny in different jobs like demolition and drainage. We had some brilliant times at rallies, especially the Yorkshire Pudding rally when it was at Silkstone Common."
