FORMER footballer Bruce Dyer has issued a heartfelt appeal following a break-in at his Grimethorpe sports site.

In a video on his Facebook page, former Reds' player Bruce, said someone had jammed open the shutter and door at the Grimethorpe Miners' Welfare Sports Ground, on Cemetery Road, which he took over last month.

He said in his video: "Over the next few months some significant work is about to take place. For this to work this is going to have to stop, the vandalism, the break-ins.

"There will be some security stuff that we will put in place. But as a community we need to pull together.

"If you know kids who come on this site or have previously been on this site can you please have a word."
