A MYSTERY surrounding what appeared to be the third most expensive property sale ever recorded in Barnsley has been solved.

The Chronicle reported last week how a property in Kendray had been recorded as having been sold for almost £6.5m according to the official Land Registry website.

The address was listed as Kendray Day Centre for the Elderly on Neville Avenue and the news caused some anxiety among staff at several care homes which share the same postcode at the site.

This week the Chronicle can confirm the property that was sold was in fact the Heron Foods supermarket despite being listed officially as Kendray Day Centre for the Elderly.
