A WAR is being waged by a Barnsley care provider against fraudsters who see OAPs as easy targets.

Home Instead Senior Care in Barnsley has been hosting fraud awareness talks with groups in the town to arm the elderly with the tools needed to stop fraudsters in their tracks.

Police urged people to be vigilant after two Barnsley women fell victim to so-called 'courier fraud' in February.

They both received telephone calls from men claiming to be detectives investigating theft and fraud from their bank account. They were then told to contact their bank but the offender stayed on the line so when they called their bank, they were still speaking to the conman.
