THREE cars have crashed in the space of five days on a road in Hoyland which has gained a reputation as an accident blackspot.

The latest carnage involved a Skoda Fabia car being driven by Luke Beck, 23, which went out of control and ended up being lifted from ground level as it collided with trees alongside Broadcarr Road.

When his father Glyn went to examine the scene the following morning he found another car which had left the road a few metres from where his son’s car had lost control and following that he also saw a small Toyota which had ended up crashing through a wall and into a field a short distance away.

But when Mr Beck, of Springwood Road, Hoyland, called Barnsley Council’s highways department to question the road’s safety record, he said they asked him to suggest how the road could be improved.
