UNWANTED toiletries have been donated to a charity which helps people who have experienced sexual violence and abuse.

The items have been donated to Barnsley Sexual Abuse and Rape Crisis Services (BSARCS) and will help those experiencing additional difficulties.

Amy Hitchcock, of BSARCS, was overwhelmed by the response to a plea she put out on Facebook.

She said: “We are overwhelmed by the support and can’t thank people enough for their donations. These toiletry items really help people who are experiencing additional difficulties and may be sofa surfing or coping with additional issues such as mental ill health or social isolation.’

Some food stuffs such as rice and canned goods were donated incidentally, but Amy said good use had been made of all the items.

Donations can be handed in to BSARCS which is based at The Core on County Way.

A raffle is also being held to make sexual violence awareness week. Tickets are available from The Core and it will be drawn on February 12.
