BARUGH Green will have Christmas lights for the first time this year thanks to a donation of lights worth more than £5,000.

Businessman Eddie Riby, owner of Direct Global Trading Ltd, has donated the lights which will be switched on a Barugh Green Primary on Higham Common Lane.

Santa will visit the school on November 20 to light up a 16ft Christmas tree - the school's first tree - as well as 17 lampposts.

Eddie has had help from Barnsley Council, which will install the lights using money from the ward budget.
