A PARTNERSHIP between Barnsley Council and XPO Logistics to clamp down on litterbugs near its Grimethorpe factory has resulted in 72 fixed penalty notices being issued over the summer months.
Enforcement officers have been combing retail giants ASOS's site, off Park Spring Road, in a bid to reduce the amount of rubbish following complaints from nearby residents.
Ken Perritt, logistics solutions account director at XPO Logistics, which operates the site, said: "We received some communication earlier in the year from local residents who were concerned about the amount of litter in the area, some of which had blown into public spaces from our site.
"We are committed to being a good neighbour in the community, so we embarked on a programme designed to encourage our colleagues to be more considerate when disposing of their litter."
