TWO friends are hoping an event to raise awareness about lake safety and to fund-raise for historic Wath Hall goes swimmingly later this month.

Lynda Bailey and Jill Scattergood, both 61, will be swimming in Wath Lake to raise funds towards the old town hall building’s restoration.

But Lynda, from Willow Road, Wath, said she hopes the swim will highlight the potential dangers of open-water swimming too.

Both ladies have had to undergo two training sessions on how to handle the cold lake water before taking on their swimming challenge.
