IT PROMISES to be a night to remember tomorrow at the Old School House.

Older music fans in Barnsley might remember the New Tracky Club, the top rock music venue in the town before it closed in 1982.

Tomorrow night event, the Nash Bash Re-Hash, promises to bring some of those memories flooding back.

With all proceeds going to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, the show has been put together by Nash veterans Ian Hobson, Chris Sedgewick and Si Eastwood.

Live music will be provided by The Essentials, fronted by P.L Menel, one time singer with Barnsley bands Warguest, Jayde and Coda-t-Coda.

Ian said: “I wanted this one to be slightly different but no less exciting so I called Paul Menel and he said he’d love to be involved. The club has been refurbished superbly and as ever the sound is superb in there thanks to Marcus Ward.

“This is a night for music lovers put on and played by music lovers so come on down, doors open at 7pm.”

Paul moved to London in 1985 and signed to Phonogram with Prog Rockers, IQ. He played with guitar legends Ronnie Wood, Bo Diddley and Alvin Lee and supported Mike Rutherford’s Mike and the Mechanics, Jethro Tull and Foreigner in concerts and festivals all over Europe.

Paul said: “It’s always great to see old friends and reminisce about The Nash. It was a magical place to go to, it was a place where friendships were formed that still go on to this day.”

He wrote and recorded new album Spare Parts For Broken Hearts 18 months ago and teamed up with Jayde’s Dave Schofield, Black Vines’ Steve Dalton, Girth’s Phil Allen and drummer Steve Booth to form The Essentials.

They will be performing a set of classic hits and a set of Essentials originals tomorrow night. The evening starts at 7pm.
