A CARE home which was rated as needing to improve its safety by the CQC has done so, according to its latest inspection.

Elliott House, on Rotherham Road in Great Houghton, was rated ‘good’ in each of the five inspection categories in its latest CQC report.

While the overall grade of the care home continues to be ‘good’ since its last inspection in 2016, the latest report sees an improvement in the score given to the safety of the home.

Its safety was rated as ‘requiring improvement’ two years ago, due to a lack of recording of accidents and the administration of medications, and a lack of audits for medication.

The latest report stated: “At this inspection we saw the standard of record keeping had improved.

“In conjunction with incident records staff also completed a Management of Actual or Potential Aggression (MAPA) log when techniques were applied to clearly evidence why intervention was necessary.

“This showed that systems were in place to promote people’s safety.

“We saw Medication Administration Records (MAR) were used to record when people had been supported with this task and we checked to ensure there was an accurate record kept.

“We saw evidence that these records were regularly checked by the management team.”

Elliott House provides residential and nursing care for up to six people with learning disabilities.
