THE SECOND annual fun run in memory of two boys who were killed in a house fire started by their father has raised at least £3,000 for a children’s burns unit.

Jack and Paul’s fun run was held last Sunday at Penistone bowling ground, with 240 runners - double the number from last year.

The brothers, aged 12 and nine, died in October 2014 when their father Darren Sykes set fire to the former family home in Tennyson Close, Penistone. He also died.

The boy’s mother Claire Throssell, 45, performed the countdown to start of the one mile run, and handed out medals to finishers.
