COMEDIAN Jimmy Cricket is coming to Barnsley.

And there’s more... The Irishman is doing the one-off gig to raise money for a local charity.

TV and radio star Cricket will be performing at the Holiday Inn in Dodworth next month in a show organised for the Rotary Club of Barnsley to raise vital funds for Barnsley Samaritans.

Rotary president Martin Colman said it is part of a year of comedy he is putting on for club members, with other acts lined up for the coming months to include comedy band The Grumbleweeds and Duggie Brown.

Former policeman Martin told the Chronicle he used his showbiz connections to bring Cricket to town.

“I deal in memorabilia and buy and sell autographs and get to see a lot of famous people,” he said. “Like everything else it’s not what you know but who you know.”

Jimmy Cricket ‘Live and Hilarious’ is on October 17 at 7pm.
