THE LIBRARY car park in Wombwell will partially re-open at the start of August amid complaints over congestion in the town centre.

Residents have lodged complaints that the library's £500,000 extension on Station Road has caused more parking problems.

Barnsley Council claims the development is on course and that more spaces will be available from the week starting August 4.

A total of 18 parking bays are set to become available during the partial re-opening.

Coun Dick Wraith said: "It's good news they will be re-opening in part as we have had a lot of complaints from residents as they have not been able to park outside their own house."

Some business owners on the High Street also believe that it has caused a downturn in business as car parking spaces have been lost and appointments have been missed.
