THE location of a new town centre school in Barnsley is still not known - even though it is due to open in 14 months' time.
Elements primary is the first free school in Barnsley to receive approval from the government. It was agreed by education secretary Michael Gove on Thursday.
As a free school it means funding still comes from government but is not controlled by Barnsley Council.
Principal of the new school, Mark Wilson, 46, said the trust is thrilled with approval for the 420-place school as it will meet a shortage of primary places in the town centre. It will open in September 2015.
However, Mr Wilson is still none the wiser about location and cost.
