DING, ding... round one - the first round of Barnsley town centre's £41 million redevelopment is officially underway.
he move will allow work to begin to transform the old open market area and elsewhere before the market is moved back in two to three years.
"This has been incredibly well received by customers and traders alike and we are really pleased about that," said Sir Steve Houghton, council leader.
He then invited Coun Roy Miller to ring the original market bell to declare the new 40-stall market open.
