RACES organised by Penistone Footpath Runners have raised a total of £400 to support the work of the Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team.

Popular events such as the Oxspring Hunshelf Amble, the Penistone 10k and the Hartcliffe Hill race benefit from the support of the rescue team, and at the Amble they provided treatment for a lady runner who had fallen and injured her knee.

Club chairman Steve Dickinson said: “The Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team is a voluntary organisation and do a wonderful job not only in our area but including helping at the floods in York.”
