A DARFIELD woman has been reunited with her beloved pet owl thanks to the efforts of Chronicle readers.

Jade Cuthbert, 20 was left bereft after her four-month-old pet barn owl Casper went missing two weeks ago.

But after a desperate appeal in the Chronicle, lots of readers got in touch and Jade and Casper had an emotional reunion.

One reader overheard a conversation at RSPB Old Moor about a Middlecliffe man enquiring what to do with an owl he had found in a tree in his garden.

The man had then handed Casper over to a bird enthusiast in High Melton to be looked after, which is where Jade's family found him.

Jade said: "I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who rang in with information and to the kind man who has been looking after Casper since he disappeared.

"I saw Casper's eyes really open up once he saw me. We've ordered some new equipment for him now to make sure he sticks around."

Casper had travelled around a mile from his home on Howard Street, Darfield to the man's garden in Middlecliffe.
