A MINI ‘kick about’ area will get some goal posts as part of a play park’s makeover paid for using cash set aside by a developer to benefit the community.

Smithies recreation ground, sandwiched between the junction of Wakefield Road and Rotherham Road at Smithies, has benefited from a £20,541 cash injection to improve facilities at the park.

The money has come from a legal agreement as part of a planning approval for the Cypress Heights housing development off Carlton Road, Smithies. A condition of this agreement was the financial contribution must be spent on existing open space facilities close to Cypress Heights.
