POLICE say they are growing increasingly concerned about a man who said he was heading to his daughter's house in Hoyland and never made it.

Sydney Lakin, 64, spoke to a family member on the phone at 10.30 am yesterday morning (Tuesday May 5) and said he was on his way from his home in High Green to his daughter's house in Hoyland - but he never arrived.

Mr Lakin had planned to use public transport to make the journey.

He has receding grey hair and is of medium build. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a blue polo shirt, a red coat and blue trainers, with red and white stripes on them.

Mr Lakin, or anyone with information as to his whereabouts, should call South Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 785 of Tuesday 6 May.
