Barnsley's coaching staff are not expecting significant outgoings or incomings in the two weeks before the loan transfer window closes on August 31.

Although the summer transfer window for permanent signings closed last week, clubs can still loan players with a deal in place to sign them permanently in the January transfer window.

Barnsley continue to monitor Portsmouth forward Conor Chaplin, who has not played in League One yet this season but came off the bench in the Carabao Cup loss to AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday. The South Coast club are still reluctant to lose the 21-year-old.

Andreas Winkler, assistant to Barnsley head coach Daniel Stendel, said: "Right now, I don't think we will bring in any players but maybe I will be surprised. We will see.

"Every week we talk with GG (Gauthier Ganaye, the chief executive). We are very happy with the team, but you never know. If we have a big injury problem, we might have to do something. We're not really thinking about loans. We can imagine that we will keep this squad for the whole season."

Several Championship clubs are still eyeing striker Tom Bradshaw but the Reds are unlikely to part with a player they see as key to securing promotion, unless they are guaranteed a significant sum of money in January. Bradshaw's fellow striker Kieffer Moore and midfielder Brad Potts have also been the subject of bids, as have other players, but the Reds have resolved to keep this squad together unless they receive an 'exceptional' bid.

Most of the transfer windows around Europe have not closed so Barnsley's players could still be bought by overseas clubs. Centre-back Liam Lindsay has been linked with a move to Italian second division club Brescia, who are owned by former Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino. The Chronicle understands Brescia approached Barnsley earlier in the summer but have never made a bid.

Winkler said: "I think all of our players who we have in the team now will play the whole season for Barnsley. The players are thinking 'OK this is the squad for the season'. But at the end of this month, we will know for sure and it will be a turning point."

On Bradshaw, Winkler said: "It is very important to keep him. He fits 100 per cent to the style we want to play. He works hard in every training session and every match."

The most likely players to leave the club on loan this month are young fringe players. Dylan Mottley-Henry, Jared Bird and Jacob Brown have not featured at all in competitive matches under Stendel.

Winkler said: "Some of them could go out on loan. We are thinking about it for Dylan. But for Jacob Brown, he was injured for a long time and we believe he is a very good player. He has been training with us and I think he will be very important for us."

Winkler admits his team are benefiting from having worked together last season, as only Kenny Dougall is a new signing of the current first teamers. Most other clubs are attempting to bed in a host of summer signings.

"It is a big advantage. But many of our players were on loan last season and they are all having to get used to a new philosophy. It is an advantage but it will level out in a few weeks."
