A MINUTE long film which encourages football fans to look after their mental health will be played ahead of Barnsley FC’s FA Cup clash in Crewe on Sunday.

The film will be played at Alexandra Stadium encouraging fans to ‘Take A Minute’ to start taking action to look after their mental health and that of their family and friends and features famous faces from the world of football including Frank Lampard and Harry Maguire.

The production has been released as a collaboration between Public Health England’s Every Mind Matters and Heads Up, a partnership between Heads Together and The FA, spearheaded by HRH The Duke of Cambridge.

Andrew Furber, centre director at PHE Yorkshire and the Humber, said: “Mental health isn’t necessarily something everyone considers on a daily basis, but lots of people engage with football more often. We know sport is good for physical health but it’s also good for mental health; it’s wonderful to see sport used as a platform to help encourage simple steps for positive mental health change.”
