THE FULL line up and plans have been revealed for this year's Christmas light switch event on Wednesday.

There will be all the Christmas hits played by Dearne FM and DJ Stephanie Hirst will be encouraging the crowd to join in with some well-known classics.

At 5pm four-piece boy band 404 will warm up the crowd with a selection of indie rock numbers. Aged 12 and 13, the boys have played a number of local gigs. This will be followed by the opportunity to Let it Go with a tribute to Frozen singalong to really get everyone in the festive spirit.

The switch on itself will take place at 6pm - Mayor of Barnsley, Coun Tim Shepherd will be assisted by children's favourite Noddy - with a fireworks display taking place afterwards.

There will be a number of road closures from 10am to 10pm on Wednesday and drivers are asked to note that between these times the following roads will be affected: Church Street (from Eastgate to Shambles Street), Sadler Gate,St Mary's Gate.

A diversion will be in place along Old Mill Lane, Harborough Hill Road, Westway and Shambles Street.

Kendray Street (from Midland Street to Eldon Street), Eldon Street and Market Hill will also be closed between approximately 4pm and 6.15pm.

Shambles Street will be closed from 5.55pm to 6.05pm as the fireworks display takes place.
