THE super Reds were given a heroes’ welcome on Monday when the triumphant team paraded through Barnsley on an open top bus to toast their Wembley success.

About 6,000 fans lined the parade route from Oakwell to the town hall to celebrate the team’s promotion to the Championship after a spectacular 3-1 win over Millwall at Wembley in the League One play-off final on Sunday.

The parade was organised to mark the club’s success which capped off a fantastic season turnaround that also saw the Reds win the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

Caretaker boss Paul Heckingbottom and his winning squad showed off the silverware as the parade bus made its way through a packed town centre filled with fans decked out in red, waving scarves and flags.
