FOUR talented young entrepreneurs who made a name for themselves at Barnsley’s Youth Market will now take part in the final national stages of the competition.

Emily Roberts, who runs Emi B Designs, a gift boutique which sells handcrafted fashion items, won the Barnsley Youth Market earlier this summer.

As a result she took part in the National Market Traders Federation’s Yorkshire Regional Youth Market at Leeds Kirkgate Market last week alongside three other young entrepreneurs representing Barnsley’s own youth market - Abbie Allert, who runs children’s fashion line Mamma Made It, Jordan Mangnall from bath, body and clothing business Jaded Heart, and Sian Fall from Dream Party Co.

As winner of the Barnsley event Emily was already through to the national event, but she will now be joined by Jordan, who was ‘highly commended’ at the regional event, as well as the other Barnsley entries after a change to the rules was announced last week.

Jordan, 21, said: “It was an incredible day we spent trading at Leeds Kirkgate Market, and we were over the moon to bring a trophy home.

“My team and I were highly commended, representing Barnsley, and are now going through to the National Youth Market in Stratford-Upon-Avon on August 31 and September 1, organised by the NMTF.

“It’s great news that all of us from the Barnsley Youth Market will be going on to Stratford.”

Emily, 22, from Barnsbridge Grove, Barnsley, said she was really excited about going to the national event. “I’m supposed to be in Spain,” she said. “I’m having to cut my holiday short to be there.”
