A COOKER fire saw firefighters called to a property in Lundwood on Monday night.

Two adults and five children were evacuated from the house on Harold Avenue by crews from Barnsley and Cudworth stations, who were called at 10.15pm to deal with the fire, which had started in the kitchen cooker.

A dog also had to be given oxygen therapy at the scene using a specialised mask.

The crew spent 35 minutes extinguishing the flames and making sure all residents were unharmed.

A spokesman confirmed the fire had been started accidentally, but the precise cause was not known.
