BARNSLEY Central MP and Parachute Regiment veteran Dan Jarvis led a debate in Parliament this week to commemorate the Battle of Arnhem.

“It was a huge honour to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Arnhem in Parliament,” he said.

“The bravery and sacrifice of all those who fought at Arnhem will never be forgotten and we will forever be in their debt.

“Their story is one of immeasurable bravery and unspeakable tragedy. It would prove to define our Airborne Forces, forging an enduring legacy.

“This debate was also a unique opportunity to recognise the contribution of Barnsley’s own Tom Hicks, who fought at Arnhem and recently celebrated his 100th birthday.”
