A FISH shop is frying high after clinching a top award.

Two Gate Fisheries, in Shafton, is celebrating after being recognised with the prestigious National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF) fish and chip quality award.

The accolade spotlights fish and chip shops that serve the highest quality food, which sees inspectors make a thorough assessment of premises, equipment, working practices, hygiene standards and management controls, along with the quality and taste of the cooked fish and chips.

Just 225 shops across the country currently have the award.

Two Gates Fisheries owner Craig Butcher said: “To be recognised as one of the top fish and chip shops is an honour and a credit to our hard-working staff. This is a prestigious award.

“It doesn’t just represent the fish and chips we produce, but also the hard work and high quality produce our local suppliers provide us to work with.

“I offer my sincere thanks to our staff for their continued hard work and efforts to maintain our excellent reputation.”
