DEMOLITION on a dominant feature of Barnsley’s skyline for 40 years will begin on Monday with a bang.
Central Offices - the multicoloured window building next to the market - will be at the mercy of a 160-tonne long reach excavating machine which will take the building apart - it’s expected to take eight weeks.
The start of the demolition itself will be marked with a short ceremony, including a countdown and pyrotechnic display at 1pm on Monday in Interchange Square.
