A winner of the Foster's Edinburgh Comedy Award 2010 for best newcomer, Roisin Conaty is a multi-talented writer and performer.

She is bringing her distinctive style of stand up to Barnsley in her tour of theatres all over the country - with a date at the Civic tonight.

She will be performing Lifehunter which concentrates on the idea that everyone in life is looking for something - to belong, to love, to forget, and for keys.

"People spend a lot of time looking for their keys. Poxy things," says the show's tag line.

Roisin is a well-known face on TV starring in Man Down on Channel 4 alongside creator of the show Greg Davies, which first aired in October.

In 2012, Roisin was given her own pilot on BBC Radio 1 called 'Roisin Conaty's What If?', which saw her debating unlikely scenarios with some of her comedian friends.

Since winning the Edinburgh Comedy Award, Roisin has appeared on 'Have I Got News For You', 'Russell Howard's Good News', Victoria Wood's 'Angina Monologues' on Sky One, 'Dave's One Night Stand' for the digital Dave channel and 'Show and Tell' on E4.

She has also appeared regularly on radio shows such as The News Quiz, Dilemma, Arthur Smith's Balham Bash, all on Radio 4, as well as comedian Russell Kane's Whistle Stop Tour on Radio 2.

Roisin is not just a talented stand up, she is also a gifted character comic, who can switch between roles seamlessly.

As well as winning the coveted Edinburgh Comedy Award, she has also won the Laughing Horse New Act Award and been a finalist in the Amused Moose and Funny Women competitions.

Roisin returned to the Edinburgh Festival in 2011 with her solo show, Destiny's D**khead and in 2012 with Lifehunter, which she also performed a run of at the Soho Theatre in November last year.
