THE death of a young mother has prompted plans to redesign a bridge over two busy roads to allow pedestrians cross more safely.

Members of Stairfoot ward alliance are looking at the possibility of erecting a ramp at the former railway bridge which crosses Grange Lane and Doncaster Road in Stairfoot and have proposed a study to see if it would be well used.

It follows the death of 35-year-old Lorraine Roebuck in June last year.

She suffered multiple injuries after being struck by a lorry while trying to cross Grange Lane.

She had been on her way to work at Lloyds pharmacy on Doncaster Road, Stairfoot, having taken her daughter to school at Oakhill Primary, Ardsley.
