YOUTHS dressed up as clowns have been frightening pensioners in Grimethorpe, it has been claimed.
The craze - which has swept the country in recent weeks - has now been reported locally and has allegedly seen youngsters targeting the Clear View area.
The matter was brought up at the Brierley, Grimethorpe and Shafton Crime and Safety Group and one pensioner, who did not wish to be named, told the Chronicle that she had seen three youths aged between 11 and 16 in masks and brightly-coloured clothing congregating on the street.
“It’s a frightening thing to see. We’ve seen it on the news but it gives you a bit of a shock when you see it happening on your street. It’s dark earlier, this area has a lot of old folk and it’s not what we want.”
