LITTER droppers who give false details will be punished more severely, Barnsley Council has warned.

The council has been given one full day each month at Barnsley Magistrates' Court as part of an ongoing crackdown that aims to try to cut down the £1 million a year bill that the council face in clearing it up.

During the first court session 61 people were up before the magistrates to answer littering charges brought by the, with three of that number also facing charges of giving false details.
