A 78-YEAR-OLD cyclist who suffered life-threatening injuries following a collision with a minibus in Cudworth last weekend has died in hospital.

The incident, which happened on Pontefract Road at about 12.30pm last Saturday, prompted police to appeal for information this week.

The cyclist was travelling towards Cudworth village centre when he was struck by a white Ford Transit Tourneo minibus. The pensioner was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police said he remained in hospital in a critical condition but died today.

The man’s family has been informed and are receiving support from specially trained officers. They have asked that their privacy be respected at this difficult time.

A 52-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He was released under investigation while enquiries continue.

An investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 508 of November 25, 2017.
