FISH and chips is just what the doctor ordered at a new Wombwell shop.

The traditional British meal is one of the healthiest takeaways you can eat. And if you don’t believe that, just ask part-time GP Amy Brett, who runs new shop The Main Fish and Chip Co on Hough Lane with husband and accountant Rob.

The couple, from Wood Walk, both took on training from the National Federation of Fish Friers for their new venture.

And while Rob now dedicates all his time to calculating the art of frying at the shop, Amy still works some of the week at Worsbrough’s Dove Valley Practice.

Amy said: “For me, as a GP, I know eating humongous portions is not doing anyone any favours. So it’s been good to find a balance where people get a decent amount when our clientele pop in to see us for a treat.

“It has been a big change for both of us but it is exciting.”
