MORE than £6,000 has been raised through a family fun day which was held after a toddler was treated for a rare aneurysm.

Jacob Thistlewood, three, fell ill in June and started vomiting blood. He was taken to hospital where doctors discovered he had an aneurysm on the main artery that carries blood to the brain.

He underwent emergency surgery to save his life at Leeds Children’s Hospital and spent weeks in intensive care under the careful watch of specialist doctors.

Jacob’s parents Kerry and David Thistlewood, of Intake Lane, Gawber, organised a fun day at the New Inn pub in Gawber to raise money for Leeds Children’s Hospital Appeal.
