PEOPLE are being invited to take a look at fire engines and the equipment used by firefighters at an open day tomorrow.

It is being held at Barnsley fire station from 10am to 3pm.

There will be a number of displays including a simulation of a car crash extraction and a chip pan fire display. People will also be given the chance to use a virtual headset showing the dangers of speeding and dangerous driving.

Representatives from the fire service and police, Safer Roads Partnership, Woodhead Mountain Rescue, Environment Agency, Fire Service Museum and the British Red Cross will also be present.

The event is free, but any proceeds will be donated to the Firefighters Charity which provides care and support for fire service staff that have suffered either physical or psychological trauma.
