STAFF at Barnsley Hospital have been asked by bosses to be considerate of residents when parking on streets near the hospital.

There has long been tensions between hospital staff, who park their cars on nearby streets, and the residents who live on those streets.

But a spokesman for Barnsley Hospital said: “The trust is very proactive in maintaining a positive relationship with local residents’ groups so if parking issues arise we can tackle these as soon as possible.

“Trust representatives attend Partners and Community Together meetings, Old Town and Pogmoor Residents Association meetings and regularly meet with local councillors to discuss various topics, including trust staff parking on residential roads.

“We periodically send communications to staff reminding them to park considerately on streets surrounding the hospital.”
